Early British Orientalist Blue Willow on Blue Biscuit Barrel by Taylor, Tunnicciffe & Co. circa 1875-98

This biscuit barrel has a  blue on blue combination, featuring the iconic Blue Willow pattern of  a beautiful garden and village scene that wraps around the whole piece.  This biscuit barrel has the rarity of being both in an Orientalist style and being blue on blue. The handle rim and lid are silver plate and the lid is inscribed, “To Mother”. was used an utilitarian object.

Marked:  In blue, the mark for Taylor, Tunnicciffe & Co.  for the dates 1875-98. Lid inscription “To Mother”.

Measures: 5 1/8 inches wide (at hinge) x 7 1/4 inches high (to tip of finial).

Excellent Condition: No chips, cracks or repairs. Slight dents around the silverplated rim of the barrel. Lid shows minor rubbing.
