Large 19th Century English GEORGE JONES Majolica Tankard w/ Wolf & Rabbit, Dog and Fowl Dates 1888

A fine and colourful example of English Majolica by George Jones who’s work and designs rivalled that of Minton and Wedgwood.

This particular design of a wolf hunting a rabbit on one side while the other side shows that of a domestic dog hunting fowl.  I have seen this pattern appear on a large Stein which has George Jones markings so I am attributing this tankard to him.  This Tankard has English Registration George Jones marks dating it 1888.

Bright colours of turquoise & cobalt blue, brown, greens and yellow enhance the beautiful workmanship.

Measures: 6 inches wide (including handle) x 6 1/8 inches high.

Marked:  English registration mark.

Excellent Condition:  The glazing is very glossy and shows no wear. The nose of the wolf has a tiny surface repair that does not detract from the beauty of the tankard.
