Exceptional Lladro Porcelain, Large 36 inch Tall – “St Michael” Limited Edition 306 of 1500

Artist Salvador Furio of the Lladró High Porcelain workshop created this spectacular interpretation of the biblical story of St Michael in a limited edition and part of the Lladro historical collection, which stands out for its dynamism and the technical skill of its execution.

The scene shows the hero St Michael fighting with the fallen angel Lucifer. This porcelain group has symbolic meaning within the Christian religion as it symbolizes good triumphing over evil and evokes divinity in a subtle way. Skillfully executed in creating space within the composition of the figures, as well as the dynamic movement of the flaming sword captured at a standstill. Saint Michael vanquishing Satan is also a painting by the Italian High Renaissance artist Raphael and this porcelain sculpture references the allegory and painting specifically in the poses of the figures.
