Intriguingly Rare Early Worcester Regency Teapot in Imari Style and Richly Gilded, Circa 1810

A gorgeous and intriguingly rare early 19th century example of a Worcester Regency period teapot and cover, London shape, decorated in Imari style and richly gilded. The sophisticated colour and pattern is one of the “Japan” patterns that came out around that time.

Decorative panels alternate with enchanting floral scenes. Panels are rimmed in gold gilt and beautiful rich cobalt blue flowing and forming gorgeous bouquets of “stylized flowers” in iron red, turquoise and yellow-green with gold gilt details.  The smaller panels have Japanese kamons in gold gilt with embellishments of iron red trim and bordered in cobalt blue. The bottom panel shows a richly decorated cobalt blue “vase of flowers” in a “garden” setting with a “fence railing” seen in the Chamberlain “Old Japan” pattern.

The teapot is in remarkable condition for its age and use. There is an inconspicuous very small bite on the inner rim and very slight crazing on the bottom with the interior of the teapot in excellent condition.

A fascinating decorative piece that is uniquely hand-painted and a rare unmarked Worcester except for a small blue makers mark on the bottom.
