Impressive and Stately French Louis XIV Style Carved Giltwood Console Table with Beveled Carrara Marble Top, Late 19th Century
v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vA stately and most impressive French Louis XIV style carved giltwood console table with a substantial bevelled Carrara marble top, late 19th Century. Raised in the front by two carved cabriole legs containing giltwood foliate/scroll decorations and “shell-like” feet. The two rear legs are contrastingly, in a “neoclassical” style, with straight carved floral/stem motifs. The giltwood carved front apron is decorated with an open or pierced scrolling foliate central motif. The two side aprons are decorated similarly with carved giltwood foliate/scrolls. The top holds a thick bevelled Carrara serpentine shaped marble.
This is a very luxurious freestanding console that has a stately and palatial presence fit for any size interior space.
