FurnitureA truly exceptional Edwardian “Bonheur Du Jour” cabinet ladies writing desk, with delicate imagery and elegant linear design. Hand painted satin wood that is superbly finished all round with spectacular floral decoration as well as vignettes of cherubs, urns and foliate swags adding a touch of dramatic elegance.
The top section has a central open space, with a small drawer below, featuring a wonderful “theatrical stage-like” curved front & mirrored back drop. The front trim having wood carved “curtain” motifs sets a romantic “central stage”, framed on each side by twin cupboards each with exquisite hand painted oval “cherub” vignettes. The base includes a writing surface with a spacious drawer underneath for convenient storage. Raised and supported on graceful tapering legs with linear hand-painted floral and foliate imagery.
