Meissen Porcelain Figure of Girl on Barrel Making Wine with Lace Clothing c.1910
v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vMeissen Beautiful Figure of a Girl with Grapes on Barrel – Hand Painted Dress and ‘Lace’ decoration.
“Girl Making Wine” – circa 1910.
A lovely little Meissen figure of a girl with beautiful features and exquisite painted dress with delicate porcelain trimming to look like lace. The girl holds grapes in one hand while holding her skirt in the other. At her feet are a bunches of grapes and leaves. The base is in the shape of the top of a wine barrel. The girl – in bare feet – is about to start stomping the grapes to make wine.
The lace is most exquisite on the front bodice of her dress.
I have seen this figure without the Lace decoration on her dress. The lace makes this so much more beautiful and fine.
Marked: Crossed swords mark for Meissen. Decorator’s mark ’54’ & impressed mark #124
Measures: 5 1/2 inches high
Excellent Condition: One of the tiny leaves on the ground by her feet is chipped (very minor). Restoration to the grape leaf in her hand (very minor). The delicate “Lace” decoration in excellent condition with the exception of a few nicks (very minor).
