A nice large Moorcroft Flambe vase in the Orchid pattern with full Walter Moorcroft signature in blue and a date of 1940. The vase is quite substantial measuring 12 inches tall and 7 inches wide. It is in the Orchid pattern. Being in a Flambe glaze – which was much harder to make as the firing was at a much higher temperature – the background is dark red and the glaze brings out unusual colours in the orchid flowers of reds, yellows, pinks and greens, which are different than a normal glazed Orchid pattern.
Marked: Moorcroft, made in England. Full signature in blue plus impressed facimile signature. also dated on bottom 1940
Measures: 12 inches tall x 7 inches wide. (3 1/2 inches in diameter at rim opening.)
