19th Century French Sevres – 42 Inch Urn – Signed & Hand-Painted Porcelain & Bronze.
v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vA large 41 inch lidded urn of elongated baluster form, with gilded bronze mounts and sinuous neoclassical figural and foliate handles.
The urn is exquisitely painted with a young woman and Eros communing in a wooded lakeside landscape.
The painting is signed “Dapoigny”. It is also quite large measuring 41 inches from bottom to top of lid.
The lid, neck, and round pedestal base are cobalt blue porcelain, with parcel gilt scrollwork panels. The urn is mounted to a conforming socle and shaped gilt bronze base. The body slides onto the base and ratates easily to show the front or back while the base stays stationary.
There is no restoration or damage.
