Absolutely Massive Gilt Bronze Double Putti Figure Single Candelabrum – Louis XV Style – Early 19th Century

An absolutely massive single gilt bronze candelabrum with 11 candleholders & 2 child putti figures holding up the lights.  The figures sit on an elaborate heavy base with plaques in relief of other putti figures on front and back.  The base is adorned with leaves and acorns and the upper with leaves and berries .   Great detail in the hair and faces of the children as well as their feet and toes, although there is some gilt wear throughout the piece.

Most likely one of a pair – this exquisite piece must have been in an important French chateau at some point in it’s life.

The candle upper portion removes from the lower Figural portion making it easier to transport – although both sections are extremely heavy.
