Art Deco Bronze Figure – Attributed to Bruno Zach (Vienna, 1891-1945), circa 1930’sArt, General
A beautiful model of a woman from the Art Deco period. The woman stands with a hand on one hip and the other holding a cigarette – she is in Art Deco dress and stands on a green mottled marble base with black slate. The bronze is attributed to Bruno Zach – Austrian artist (1891-1945) who was controversial in his art throughout the Art Nouveau and Art Deco period frequently depicting women as dominatrixes, and in provocative poses along with traditional genre.
Bruno Zach used the same model in many of his sculpture. This figure is the same female model used in many of his works. Signed “Austria” underneath shoe.
