English Victorian Rare Coromandel Wood Cased 3 Bottle Tantalus Set with Attached Gaming box – Plymouth Cycling Club dated 1896
v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vA handsome 3 crystal bottle English tantalus set with attached box for cards and games. Brass decorative mounts are attached and there are two side brass handles. The set is cased in a coromandel wood, which is a rare South East Asian wood and became extinct in the early 20th century. It was part of the Ebony family.
The set belonged to the Plymouth Cycling Club – with an attached enamelled logo (since 1877).
It also has a silver dedication plaque for one of its members (dated 1896).
Two horizontal doors on the top of the box open which then allow the bottles to be removed. It also has 1 drawer that is opened by a secret button on the inside of the larger box.
Measures: 14 inches wide x 11 inches deep x 13 inches high.
It is in good condition.
