“AT THE BRIDGE” Oil on Canvas by MAURICE LEMAITRE, b. France, 1929$975.00
“AT THE BRIDGE” Oil on Canvas by MAURICE LEMAITRE, b. France, 1929-
This is a charming winter scene by French landscape painter, Maurice Lemaitre.
It depicts a country scene of a stone bridge with wooden rails, in winter, near sunset. A man stands beside the walled embankment along the river, watching the flowing water, as ice forms on its surface. Two country cottages, a field, and a forest beyond form the mid-field and background.
This lovely little painting would make a fine addition to a collection of contemporary landscapes.
Marked: Signed by the artist on the front, in the lower left-hand corner of the painting. The gallery sticker is also on the back (pictured).
Measures: Dimensions: Framed: 12″ x 15″. Painting alone: 8″ x 10″.
