Carved Japanese Ivory Netsuke of a Rat Sitting on the Back of an Elephant c.1900

A Japanese carved ivory netsuke of a long-tailed rat sitting on the backside of an elephant. The elephant has his trunk raised.

The netsuke is signed on the underside of one of the elephant’s feet with Japanese characters.

It measures 1 3/4 inches long x 1 5/8 inches tall and is in excellent condition.
