v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vA beautifully carved Japanese Ivory netsuke showing a man’s face on one side; a woman’s face on the other side and a child’s face between the two at the top.
A netsuke is a small sculptural object (carved button-like ornament) worn for hundreds of years in Japan as a functional and aesthetic piece and used to suspend articles from the sash of a kimono.
This piece dates circa 1900.
The piece is 1 1/4 inches in diameter and is signed “Nil” on the top near the button holes.
It is in excellent condition.
