A Cold Painted Austrian Bronze Tobacco Box – Arab Man Sitting on Carpet

A fabulous early original cold painted bronze by Franz Xavier Bergman, one of the masters of cold painted bronze sculptures representing Arab scenes.  The bronze is of an Arab man sitting on a carpet draped over a decorative box lined with wood made to hold tobacco.  The figure and persian carpet are mostly orange, green, red and silver. The detail and quality is very high. This piece dates circa 1890-1900 and is signed on the back of the figure – B in urn.

Marked:  B in urn – Franz X. Bergman foundry mark.

Measures:   6 1/4 inches wide x 3 3/4 inches deep x 6 inches high.

Excellent Condition: No damage or repairs. Bright colours – minimal paint wear. Missing a long pipe.
