Early Spode England Porcelain Tea Cup and Saucer – “Japan” Pattern, c. 1820China Patterns, Porcelains
A lovely early (c. 1820) Spode England porcelain tea cup and a matching saucer in the “Japan” pattern.
The pieces have a white background with lavish, colourful decorations in red, blue, green and orange with gilt accents. The rim of each piece is painted in orange.
The tea cup is 4 inches wide from the rim to the edge of the cup handle. The cup is 2 3/8 inches tall. It is marked “967” on the bottom.
The saucer is 5 1/2 inches in diameter with deep sides. It is also marked “967” on the underside.
There is some age / usage wear to the orange rims and the saucer has some very small chipping on the underside of the base.
Overall, though, this duo is in very good condition for its age.
