Elegant Early Birks Large Citrine Gemstone & Diamond Brooch, 14K Gold with 20 Diamonds – circa 1910

This captivating early Birks brooch, from the beginning of the 1900s, features a beautiful large central round faceted citrine gemstone, surrounded by a halo of 20 small brilliant cut diamonds and 3 larger brilliant cut diamonds on the periphery of the 14k “yellow gold spun fan-shaped open weave” setting. Note, the brooch most likely, originally, had 4 diamonds on the periphery but this is not noticeable as all the halo of diamonds around the citrine are intact. The closure is an unusual trombone clasp.

The brooch features a large stunning antique citrine that sparkles a warm, medium intense golden orange with a slight reddish hue. This exquisite gemstone, cut with precision to enhance its natural brilliance, is gracefully framed by a delicate border of 20 diamonds. The diamonds, small but lustrous, create a beautiful contrast to the citrine’s rich hue adding a touch of elegance and sophistication. The setting, crafted of 14 karat gold, showcases the intricate detailing of a bygone era.

A wonderful antique brooch, with its timeless design and refined aesthetic, is a testament to the enduring allure of the “height of elegance”.
