English Figural Indoor Scene – Oil Painting Under Glass – Artist Signed H. Stacy Marks (1829-1898)

A British oil painting under glass of a very colourful indoor scene with figures sitting and talking.

It is signed in the lower right corner by the artist, H.(Henry) Stacy Marks, who lived from 1829 to 1898 and was a member of the Royal Academy of Arts in England. He was known early in his career for his medieval themes and for oil painting. The elaborate gilt wooden frame also shows his name.

There is some slight damage on the frame but the oil painting itself is in excellent condition. And because the painting has been under glass for the last 150 years, there is absolutely no dirt buildup on the oil painting and the colours are true to the time it was painted.

The painting with frame measures approximately 20 inches wide x 15 1/4 inches tall.
