English Mappin & Webb Gilt Over Silver Plated Biscuit Barrel – circa 1890
v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vA beautiful, ornate, gold-washed over silver-plate oval biscuit barrel with a hinged lid and 4 claw feet on the base, by Mappin & Webb.
The underside of the biscuit barrel is stamped “Mappin & Webb AT London & Sheffield” in oval mark. The company changed to Mappin & Webb Ltd. after 1902
The biscuit barrel is beautifully decorated with cartouches and floral decorations as well as a finial showing a bunch of flowers and stems.
The barrel is 9 1/2 inches long x 6 inches wide x 10 inches tall from the base to the tip of the finial.
It is in excellent condition.
