English Porcelain & Silver Plated Barrel Shaped Biscuit Barrel in Imari Colours – circa 1890. Walker & Hall English marks.
General, PorcelainsA rare barrel shaped porcelain biscuit barrel in hand painted Imari colours of gold, rust red and blue. The barrel is surrounded by silver plate handle (hinged), 4 feet with cross brace and two silver plated lids that each open separately. The ends are lid shaped and reeded with a knob/finial in a salmon pink colour reminiscent of Davenport porcelain. The silver plate is marked for what looks like W&H S in pseudo silver hallmarks and ‘EP’ with crown above – which would be for Walker & Hall, England.
The handle is hinged and can move down to either side.
Measures: 8 inches wide x 6 inches deep x 10 inches high with the handle up.
