English Sterling 18th Century Master Butter / Paté Server – Fiddle Thread & Shell dates 1855

This early master butter in sterling silver is English hallmarked Chester and dates 1855. It is in the timeless pattern fiddle, thread & shell. Faintly inscribed on the back of the handle – M.G. Dec 12 Ag 88 1853 J.P.G.

Marked: Three towers for Chester, Left facing lion passant for Sterling, Head of the Monarch – Queen Victoria, date letter “R” for 1855 and J S for the maker I believe to be John Stone.

Knife Measures: 8 3/8 inches long with a decorative blade 1 1/4 inches wide.
