European Victorian “Parian Ware” Figure of a Child / Putti – circa 1870

A large white Parian Ware figure of a Child.  The child sits on a tree stump with a wreath around his head and a toga type dressing.  The child sits beside a bird’s nest with 2 baby birds in the nest.  The detail in the face and the hands is very good quality.  Parian Ware was a popular type of unglazed ceramic/porcelain done in the Victorian Era that was molded and easier to reproduce than porcelain or bronze figures that were much more expensive at the time.  Parian Ware was done mainly in Europe – England, France & Germany.

The figure measures 19 inches tall.

It is in excellent condition.
