PorcelainsLovely small scale Royal Vienna vase, hand painted with a central vignette depicting a “mother and child ” image from a historical or Greek mythological reference and signed by the artist Reimer. Royal Vienna vases were produced at the Imperial & Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Vienna (1718-1864) and are known for their detailed, hand-painted designs, often inspired by Renaissance and Greek Classicism. The painter Riemer is one of the most respected artists who worked at the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory. The porcelain he painted has a high artistic and commercial value.
The central vignette of pastel hues with rich jewel tones embellished with gold accents, and an elaborate border design adds a romantic aesthetic and contrasts the deep cobalt blue glazing with hand painted gilt which is raised with white dot accents. The vase bears the beehive mark of the Imperial and Royal Manufacture of Vienna stamped in underglaze blue and signed “Mione”.
Royal Vienna porcelain is highly valued, and many are now primarily found in museums and private collections.
