Exsquisite 18k Gold Swiss Calling Card Holder – Cabochon Sapphires, Diamonds & Enamel – British Import Marks for 1926

An exquisite 18k gold calling card case dating 1926 just came into the shop.  Having English gold import marks this case most likely originates from Switzerland.  73 grams of 18k gold, inlaid black enamel ‘squiggle’ decorative lines in the shape of flowers, white enamel vertical lines and surrounded by turquoise enamel ‘jewels’.

The central oval is made up of diamonds and cabochon sapphires in an overflowing cup motif over a turquoise oval background. Both sides of the case are identical.

Calling cards were a slightly smaller size back then, so custom cards could be made if one were to use this as such.

Measures: 3 1/4 inches wide x 1 7/8 inches high.  Weight: 73 grams
