French Art Deco Figural Dancer Lamp Attributed to Émile Carlier, Circa 1930
General, LightingA striking French Art Deco figural table lamp, circa 1930, featuring an elegant female dancer poised dramatically on one foot above an illuminated moulded glass globe.
The finely modelled spelter figure retains a warm gilt and bronze-toned patina and is depicted in a characteristic theatrical pose, dressed in a short flowing costume with one leg raised and her arms extended overhead. The figure is mounted directly above a large spherical frosted glass shade deeply moulded with stylized geometric and floral motifs characteristic of the Art Deco period.
The illuminated globe produces a particularly warm atmospheric light and is supported on a circular green marble base.
The figure closely corresponds to documented dancer models by French sculptor Émile Carlier, including a rare version in which the dancer is positioned above the glass globe. In the absence of a visible signature, the lamp is offered as attributed to Carlier.
