French Art Deco Green Patina’d Spelter Figurine of a Woman Dancer by Max Le Verrier – Titled ‘Danseuses a la Draperie’
v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vA wonderful Art Deco green painted spelter figurine of a woman dancing with her scarf (Danseuses a la Draperie), signed “Denis” on the base and resting on a black veined marble double base. “Denis” is for Maurice and Marcel Denis, who were French artists, after Max Le Verrier (Louis Octave Maxime Le Verrier (1891-1973).
Louis Octave Maxime Le Verrier, known more commonly as Max Le Verrier, also known by the pseudonym Artus (1891–1973) was a French sculptor. He was known for being a pioneer within the Parisian Art Decomovement, creating decorative art objects often made in bronze as well as historical sculptures.
The sculpture measures 12 inches tall and is 8 inches in width.
There is some wear to the green patina in places but, overall, this piece is in very good condition.
