Hand-Blown Cranberry Glass Lidded Dish with Clear Applied Glass Finial and Decoration on the Body, c. 1880

A wonderful hand-blown cranberry glass lidded dish with an applied clear glass finial on the lid and crimped, clear glass decoration around the body of the dish.

The underside shows a large pontil mark where the piece was detached from the glass-blowing apparatus.

The dish with lid is 5 1/2 inches tall from the finial to the base and is 3 3/4 inches wide across the base.

There are a couple of chips on the lid finial and some minor nicks on the rims of the lid and dish.
