Heavy English Hallmarked Sterling Bowl – weight 3kg. – London, dated 1908.
v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vA heavy 3 kg Centre / Fruit bowl in Sterling silver. The heavy bowl is English hallmarked sterling dated for London 1908 and made by. The repoussé work is in a Celtic or Scandinavian style with waves encircling the top rim of the bowl and vertical patterns rising from the base to half way up the body. Lion head masks with rings decorate each side. The rim of the bowl is decorated with a gadroon edge. Once you pick this bowl up you immediately feel it’s heavy weight for it’s size. It measures 11 1/2 inches diameter x 7 1/2 inches high but weighs more than some sterling 2 handled tea set trays.
