Huge – 24 inch – Early ‘Carl Thieme’ German Porcelain Hand-Painted Urn with Cherubs, Painted Figural Scenes, Applied Fruit & Flowers

Here is a heavily decorated, huge, early Carl Thieme German porcelain urn with hand-painted courtier and cherub scenes, figures of cherubs, painted and applied fruit and flowers with ribbons and gold accents. There is a gilt bronze acorn finial on the attached lid.  Beautiful quality painted scene of the couple – courting – and cherubs flying around their heads.  The back painting of a floral bouquet of equally quality painting.

The urn stands 24 inches high and is 13 inches wide at the base.

The underside shows the maker’s mark – That of Carl Thieme Factory out of Dresden Germany.  The crossed lines with ‘T’ mark dates this piece c.1880/1890

There is some damage to the cherub’s wings on one side and some minor chipping on the applied flowers but, overall, the piece is in excellent condition.
