LARGE 15 1/2 inch MAJOLICA PORTRAIT CHARGER – Austrian circa 1900

This is a large majolica charger with a woman’s portrait in relief that is nicely hand painted giving the face such serenity. The portrait is of a woman with a striped & jewelled headscarf, golden flowing hair and multiple necklaces. This charger has a decorative pierced pink border accented with floral clusters and highlighted with gold. The background is a deep burgundy that makes the rest of the details stand out.

Marked: S??? – I have shown the mark but I am unable to make it out.

Measures: 15 1/2 inch diameter x 7/8 inches deep.
