Large Gilt Bronze Round Base Inkwell With Faceted Crystal Ink Pot with Stag Figural Finial – Howell, James & Co. circa 1870

An impressive Italian gilt bronze inkwell with a large repoussé gilt round base decorated with winged cherubs, eagles and acanthus leaf scrolls. A faceted crystal inkwell sits in the centre which has a gilt bronze lid with a stag finial.

Marked on the underside for Howell James & Co, London – a retailer in London on Regent street that operated between 1819 & 1911.

Measure 13.5 inches diameter x 9.5 inches high.
