London England Hallmarked Gilt Sterling Silver Milk Jug, dated 1846

This is an unique English hallmarked sterling silver gilt cream jug, dated 1846. This jug features an old man’s face with a long beard on the spout of the jug and elaborate scroll & floral engravings on the 8 sides of its octagonal shape.

The hallmarks include a shield, the letter L for 1846 and the maker’s initials (WKR) as well as Queen Victoria’s head.

The jug measures 5 inches high X 4 1/4 inches wide from the spout to the handle and weighs 186 grams.

It is in very good condition – with slight professional repair to handle where it joins body.
