A large Naples porcelain tankard, it dates circa 1840. Naples pre-dates Capodimonte. It is an extravagant, yet unusual design that makes it out of the ordinary, but strangely unique. It is beautifully hand-painted with colours of blue, green, peach, yellow, brown and orange on white. The rim and top of the handle is in bronze with gilt gold in a bead design. There are multiple animated characters in the porcelain depicting several narratives that may reference mythology or folklore.
Marked: Impressed on the bottom in blue, with the Royal Factory of Naples Crown and Neapolitan N, crowned ‘N’ mark, dates circa 1840.
Measures: 12 inches in height x 4 1/2 inches wide (3 inches by the handle)
Condition: No chips, or cracks. There is a professional reinforced repair in the porcelain under the handle(see image), the tree is a match the original structure.
