Pair of Italian Tall Carved and Gilded Wood Torchieres, Elaborately Decorated with Rams’ Heads and Swags
v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vA fantastic pair of late 19th Century Italian carved and gilt wooden torchieres with that sit on triangular bases.
The torchieres have elaborate carved decorations each with 3 rams’ heads and long swags underneath the heads. The carving continues down the shaft of the body to a bulbous group of leaves where it then meets the tri-base. The interior of the upper bowl in oak.
Each measures 56 inches in height from the top of the bowl to the bottom of the base. They are 14 inches wide at the base and are 10 inches wide across the “bowl”.
Date mid to late 19th century.
