Rare 18k Gold Swiss Pocket Watch – Minute Repeater & Chronograph – Universal Watch Extra, Geneva – circa 1900

A very rare 18k gold Swiss pocket watch – chronograph & minute repeater with hunter case – 55mm. The minute repeater chimes the hour, quarter and minute on request by a lever on the bottom. The chronograph starts and resets by a button at the side.

Each cover is marked 18k as well as the winder and handle.  Total weight:  123grams.

Minute repeaters are rare because over 100 components are used and up to 300 hours of work to make them function. They are one of the most complicated movements in watches.

This one is signed “Universal Watch Extra” by Universal Geneva and dates circa 1900.

Measures:  55mm diameter.   3 1/8 inches high.
