Rare Georgian Antique Ridgeway Porcelain Punch Bowl, Circa 1820

A very fine and rare Ridgeway porcelain punch bowl, circa 1820. Beautifully hand painted with a continuous gold pattern outlining the areas of flowers, leaves and organic designs over a softly graduated pastel background. The sophisticated imagery is elegant, eye-catching and very skillfully executed. The bowl has a raised base with a gold trim line and is marked on the bottom with a pattern number 2/578.  The bowl is listed as a punch bowl in the Ridgeway porcelain book – although today we might use it for a bowl for fruit as it is not the large size we consider Punch bowls by today’s standard.
