A beautiful quality 19th century French bronze figural grouping of a hunter with horn and two hunting hounds by his side.  Titled: “Piqueur au Relais”  on the plaque at the front with “Salon des Beaux Arts” underneath the title. The Salon de Paris as it is known in French began in 1725 was the official art exhibition of the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France. Between 1748–1890 it was the greatest annual or biannual art event in the western world. Since 1881 it was organized by the Société des Artistes Français.

The bronze is signed by the artist:  “Lecourtier Hip. Moreau” for Hippolyte Francois Moreau (born in Paris 1832 – died 1926).

The bronze has a coin mark from the Sociéte des Bronzes de Paris foundry.

Measures:  21 inches high x 9 inches wide at base.
