Small Porcelain Plaque of Young Jesus Christ, Housed in a Carved 3 Part Oval Wooden Frame, Easel Backing

A wonderful porcelain plaque of young Jesus Christ (an excerpt from the famous 1881 painting by the artist, Heinrich Hofmann, titled “Jesus in the Temple”).

The plaque is housed in a carved 3 part oval wooden frame with an easel backing. The frame has filigree carving on the 2 front sections which are hinged. When these are opened, it reveals the plaque. The frame will stand upright whether the front sections are opened or closed.

The plaque has no visible identifying artist marks.  Most likely Italian – circa 1900

When closed, the frame is 3 1/8 inches wide and stands 3 3/4 inches tall. The plaque itself is 3 inches tall x 2 1/2 inches wide.

There are some very minute scratches on the porcelain and one on the frame but, overall, this piece is in very good condition.
