Impressively Large Austrian Porcelain, Stunning Art Nouveau Bust of a Woman – Circa 1890

An Austrian Art Nouveau bust of a woman that is not only impressively large but the porcelain sculptural details are exquisitely designed, handcrafted and hand-painted.

Firstly, you notice the pose with the slight tilt and turn of her head with upraised eyes creates dynamic movement as if she is about to greet you. The texture of the all porcelain details are stunning, from the adornments of ribbon, huge hibiscus flowers & fruit to the folds in the different fabric layers (lace, satin etc) of her garments to her actual figure perceived through the these layers.  The hand-painted skin tones and the pastel tones of her wardrobe throughout are unified and exquisite from the violets on her dress, hibiscus flowers on her bonnet to the gold painted trim of her camisole and the beading on her dress. Extensively decorated and highly detailed work of an “unknown” master dated to circa 1890.
