A 19th century wooden Chinese Lunch or Food box. The black lacquered wood is painted over in gold and orange with birds and flowers. The top handle has a secret opening where the top cannot be opened unless a secret lever is raised which allows the carved handle to slide out of the way and lets the lid be free to open.
3 pieces – body, lid and removable handle.
