v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vAmerican Brilliant Cut Glass Pedestal Compote By Hawkes
This outstanding American compote is by the Hawkes company out of Corning, New York. The compote is a fine example of the heavily cut delft diamond pattern featuring a deep cut geometric diamond pattern on the exterior of the bowl, a scalloped rim and a flower shape base. This is referred to as American “Brilliant” cut glass. It dates circa 1930’s.
Measures: 9 1/4 inches wide x 9 5/8 inches high.
Marked: Acid etched tri-lobed mark with a hawk in two bottom lobes and a fleur-de-lis in the centre lobe, Hawkes etched below mark added after 1920. I have put a white sticker on the base to help find the mark (pictures x 2).
Excellent Condition: No cracks or repairs. Tiny flea bites along interior rim.
