American Victorian Bride’s Basket on Silver Plated Cherub Base – Cased Peachblow Glass Insert – Middletown Plate Co. – circa 1870

A fantastic quality American Victorian bride’s basket with a quadruple silver plated figural base of a cherub holding a cornucopia with a cased Peachblow pink glass bowl that transitions to a robins egg blue interior glass. The bowl is attached with a silver plated dowel that inserts into the cornucopia – so it is original to the piece.  The bowl is decorated with gold leaves and fruit on the outside – it is most likely made by Mt Washington.  I have seen other examples of the peachblow outer to robins egg blue inner glass throughout the internet – and the quality of the glass is high.

The base is marked Middletown Plate Co. Quadruple Plate.

Middletown Plate Co. was located in Connecticut and started in 1864.  It was eventually bought out by International Silver Co in 1899.

Measures: 10.5 inches high x 10 inches long
