A fantastic quality American Victorian bride’s basket with a quadruple silver plated figural base of a cherub holding a cornucopia with a cased Peachblow pink glass bowl that transitions to a robins egg blue interior glass. The bowl is attached with a silver plated dowel that inserts into the cornucopia – so it is original to the piece. Â The bowl is decorated with gold leaves on the outside – it is most likely made by Mt Washington. Â I have seen other examples of the peachblow outer to robins egg blue inner glass throughout the internet – and the quality of the glass is high.
The base is marked Middletown Plate Co. Quadruple Plate.
Middletown Plate Co. was located in Connecticut and started in 1864. Â It was eventually bought out by International Silver Co in 1899.
