General, JewelryA lovely Russian original Carl Fabergé amethyst and 14k gold brooch in Fabergé box along with a Fabergé price catalogue from around 1897 that shows the brooch and description and original price. The gold is hand engraved and is set with a large oval convex amethyst. A tiny diamond just under that.
The description in the catalogue from Russian to English translates to: “8. The brooch is matte, gold, pomegranate, moon stone, topaz or amethyst” – photo on opposite page corresponds to #8 on list.
The Russian gold hallmarks are on the pin and the catch. Kф and 56 plus two letters (workmaster?)
Measures 4.5 cm or 1 3/4 inches long.
