Antique Russian .84 Silver Salt Throne – Ivan Yefimovich Konstantinov – 1876 Moscow

A rare Russian silver Throne shaped salt cellar – known as a Salt Throne.  The silver is all hand chased, front and back with a seat that lifts to store the salt.  The interior is gold washed with an engraved chicken on the interior of the lid.  Russian writing in cyrillic characters on the top of the seat which loosely translates to “Lunch without salt is just half a meal”.

Russian hallmarks for Moscow 1876 with the makers mark for  Ivan Yefimovich Konstantinov.
