An ART NOUVEAU GILDED BRONZE STATUE of a DANCER by JOSE DUNACH, c. 1920
v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vThis lovely young lady in grecian robes, dances barefoot, seemingly lost in a reverie.
The delicate figure is beautifully formed. The fluid lines of the dancer’s pose and robes are wonderfully enhanced by fine gilt applied over the bronze.
The figure stands on a disc-shaped plinth, atop a serpentine marble columnar base.
Jose Dunach (1886-1957) was born in Barcelona, and moved to Paris in 1919. He exhibited in numerous Paris Salons and was well-regarded for his small bronzes of athletes and dancers.
This would be a very pretty addition to a room with Art Nouveau influences in the decor, or a wonderful gift for the dancer in your life.
Marked: Signed by the artist on the plinth (pictured).
