v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vA carved and painted Asian ivory netsuke of a Buddha-like man holding a bowl in his right hand and supporting his on his right shoulder. There is a beautiful checkerboard design on this robes (please see the second gallery photo for details).
A netsuke is a small sculptural object (carved button-like ornament) worn for hundreds of years in Japan as a functional and aesthetic piece and used to suspend articles from the sash of a kimono.
The netsuke is 1 1/2 inches tall x 1 1/2 inches wide and is in excellent condition.
