Crafted during the late 19th century, the clock features a beautifully sculpted, architectural walnut case highlighted by an elegant broken-arch top crest and a detailed, carved decorative rosette molding centered on its base. This specific offering includes its rare, beautifully matched walnut wall shelf, styled perfectly to complement the clock’s elegant woodwork and base proportions.
The upper dial features classic Roman numerals tracking standard time, while the lower dial showcases the complex, fully automatic perpetual calendar mechanism invented by Henry B. Horton. This ingenious mechanical setup automatically accounts for varying month lengths and leap years, shifting internal rollers to cleanly display the day of the week, the month, and the exact numerical date using its original period typography. The lower dial proudly displays the original manufacturer stamping and Horton’s groundbreaking historical patent dates from April 18, 1865, and August 28, 1866.
