v** SOLD ARCHIVES **vA beautiful bronze figurine of a classical semi-nude woman holding a bouquet of flowers. The sculpture is by Charles .H. Cumberworth (1811-1852) and is signed on the side of the base.
The bronze measures 13 inches tall from the top of the woman’s head to the bottom edge of the base. Beautiful quality all around.
It is in excellent condition.
(askart) Charles Cumberworth was a sculptor born in Verdun in 1811, and died in Paris in 1852. He entered the School of Fine Arts in 1829. From 1833-1848, he exhibited at the Paris Salon. We owe him credit for the statue of Marie Amelie, Queen of the French, the statue of the Duke of Montpensier and bronze bust of Paul Féval.
